Yahoo Shuts Down its Eight Products

by Erslan on December 17, 2010

Following the announcement that Yahoo has laid off 600 employees on December 14th, 2010, Yahoo has again announced that they are making some additional changes but this time to their product line up.  The company has reported that it is shutting down eight of its products.  These products include Yahoo! Picks, Yahoo! Bookmarks, Delicious, AltaVista, MyBlogLog, and Yahoo! Buzz.

Some additional products are going to be downsized, but instead of being shut down, they will instead be merged with existing products.  The products set to be merged include Yahoo! Calendar, Yahoo! Alerts, Yahoo! People Search and Fire Eagle.  The move has been made according to Yahoo to help the brand move into a new direction.  Yahoo continues to search for a new identity despite losing a significant piece of the market share to companies like Facebook and Google.
