Microsoft’s Hotmail has launched a service which lets users create multiple ‘aliases’ for a single Hotmail account.
“Starting today, you can create and manage multiple email aliases from a single Hotmail account,”
wrote Microsoft’s Dharmesh Mehta in a post on the official Windows Blog.
“The new aliasing feature makes it easy to use a different email address and still get all the benefits of Hotmail without having to change your primary email address and online identity,”
He said that the
“average person maintains three different email addresses in order to organize different types of email, maintain different personas, or keep junk mail away from a primary email address.”
Another problem brought to attention is the ability to juggle one e-mail address that is used with family and friends, work, and everything else that you do on the internet. Having multiple email addresses helps divide different lives on the internet.
Microsoft hopes to please both types of users, the normal users who want multiple accounts for home and work life and the hardcore users who want to juggle multiple things while not having to deal with any setting changes.
The new Hotmail aliases feature allows users to create just five aliases per year.
