Chevrolet Unveils 2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible

In an announcement released yesterday, Chevrolet has revealed that the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will make its official world debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show this November.

Following in the footsteps of its coupe sibling, the new droptop will feature the familiar 6.2 liter LSA V8 which is good for 580 horsepower and 556 lb ft of torque. These numbers surpass both the Shelby GT-500 Convertible’s figures of 550 horsepower and 510 lb ft of torque respectively and those of many high priced sports-cars including the Aston Martin DB9 Volante, the Mercedes SLS AMG, and the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Kia Unveils Official Pricing For 2012 Kia Rio

Kia has announced the final pricing of its 2012 Kia Rio and Rio5 models. Pricing for Kia’s smallest offering will begin at a wallet-friendly $13,600 for a base Rio LX 5 door equipped with the manual transmission. Customers who want an automatic transmission can expect to pay a slightly higher starting price of $14,700. At these price points, the 2012 model actually manages to achieve a much lower starting price than the former model that it replaces.

With the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show now upon us, the folks at Audi have officially revealed the refreshed 2012 Audi RS5 sport coupe ahead of its much anticipated global debut. Updated for the 2012 model year, the RS5 now features new front end styling that is more assertive and bolder than the current car’s, thanks to the use of restyled headlights, a tweaked lower fascia treatment, and new daylight running lamps. This theme continues to the rear of the coupe with the application of a revised rear fascia that features an automated spoiler, and special aerodynamic channels that help bestow the car with additional stability when driven at high speeds.

Bob Lutz Returns To General Motors In Advisory Role

In an announcement that surprised some in the industry last Friday, General Motors announced that legendary automotive executive and car enthusiast Bob Lutz will be returning to the company to serve as a consultant to the company’s senior leadership. The 79 year old former vice chairman and “Car Czar” retired from the company in 2010, but still provided the company with free informal advice and counsel during his time away from the company.

2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Revealed Ahead Of Frankfurt Debut

After many months of teasing – not to mention several spy photos, including our own – Porsche has finally dropped the curtains on the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera (991) ahead of its impending debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.

One of the biggest changes that careful observers will notice on the 2012 Carrera is that it has been stretched in overall wheelbase, which makes the new car about 3.9 inches longer than the old 911 it replaces along with a roof that has been lowered to help create a more aggressive appearance. In addition to the increased length, the 2012 Carrera also benefits from a body that is made from an aluminum and steel composite which not only reduces the car’s weight, but also enhances the aerodynamics of the car as well. Other than the lighter body and a slight repositioning of the side mirrors to the tops of the doors. The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera manages to retain many of the same styling and basic visual elements that have been around since the car’s first generation almost a half century ago.
