NHTSA Opens Investigation Into Ford Mustang Transmission Issues

By Carl Malek

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has begun looking into possible transmission issues in the 2011-2012 Ford Mustang. The NHTSA has received over 32 complaints ,which claim that the transmission is unable to shift gears when the vehicle is moving at speed.

Over 26,000 manual transmission-equipped V6 and V8 powered Mustangs from 2011-2012 are affected by the NHTSA’s investigation into the matter. Many of the reports and complaints received by the NHTSA regarding this issue appear to indicate that drivers are having difficulty engaging 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears when up-shifting and down-shifting especially when the transmission is cold. Next Generation GTI To Feature Power Increase

By Carl Malek

Volkswagen has been busy working on the finishing touches of its next generation GTI model, and it appears that a horsepower bump is in the cards for the new version of the original hot hatch. This is according to the folks over at Autocar Magazine, who claim that the familiar 2.0 liter turbocharged engine will be tweaked to help increase power from 200 horsepower to a more robust 220 horses.  One of these tweaks is the use of a brand new valve lift system developed by Audi. By Carl Malek

Audi has finally revealed the official U.S pricing for the 2012 Audi TT-RS. 2012 Range Rover Sport, LR4 Updates Revealed

By Carl Malek

Land Rover has formally unveiled the updates and new features the company has planned for the 2012 Land Rover LR4 and the 2012 Range Rover Sport models.

Engine options will not change for the 2012 model year, but a key addition to both models for 2012 is the use of a brand new ZF eight speed gearbox, which will be paired to the 3.0 liter V6 turbo-diesel engine. The engine itself has seen a modest horsepower boost going up from 245 horsepower to a more robust 252 horsepower. As a bonus, the company claims that the 3.0 liter V6 will see decreased emissions and increased fuel economy numbers thanks to the transmission’s extra gears and the use of a brand new low flow fuel injection system. Unfortunately, the new gearbox will not find its way to the V8 versions of the Range Rover Sport and LR4 which will retain the familiar six speed automatic gearbox for 2012.
