Is the world ready for a $70,000 Cadillac CTS? I’m not so sure, but part of my bias may be that the MSRP on my daily driver, a loaded previous-generation CTS with every option but all wheel drive, was about $47,000 back in 2008 (and I paid about $36,000 for it after employee pricing, GM Card earnings, rebate, etc.) Nevertheless, GM sold a number of $70,000- CTS-Vs over the past several years, and there was a serious gap between the 321-horsepower naturally aspirated 3.6 liter V6 and the monster 556 horsepower 6.2 liter supercharged LSA V8 in the CTS-V that a stronger mid-level engine offering was needed.
Following a similar announcement by Ford regarding their HD pickup lineup earlier this week, General Motors has followed suit by formally unveiling the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and the GMC Sierra HD at the State Fair of Texas earlier this week. The pair not only offer better capability, but also benefit from many of the same suite of updates that first made their debut on the revamped 1500 model.
It has been nearly one month since I took delivery of my 2013 Buick Verano Turbo, and with the pint sized Buick recently surpassing 1500 miles (mostly due to my long trek to work) It is time for a long-term test update. I am the primary driver of this long term tester, and it has done an admirable job in getting me to work and back safely as well as various other errands and visits with family and friends. So far I am very pleased with my purchase, and I’m pleased to report that the Verano has not racked up any warranty related problems since its arrival in our family’s fleet of vehicles in July.
